Yuri still had a week of school holidays left. Paul and I were working again in week 18 2022. In the weekend Yuri had a sleepover and it was Mother’s Day.
Week 18 2022
Monday

Made homemade basil pesto and used that in our dinner. We had asparagus with gnocchi, pesto and a poached egg. The asparagus we had bought the week before at Fruitbedrijf Smits. It’s the season for asparagus and white asparagus are called the white gold in the Netherlands.
Tuesday

Dinner was a vegetarian chicken burger or a vegetarian chilli burger with fries. Served with apple chutney with nuts and apricots, pickled cucumber, slices of tomato and mayo or ketchup.
Wednesday

No homecooked meals on this day. Lunch were buns from Huismeesters. A pulled chicken bun for Paul and me, and a croissant and bananabread for Yuri. With his dental braces, those hard buns are not that convenient. For dinner we ordered burgers from BurgerMe.
Thursday

Yuri baked waffles in the morning for breakfast from the cookbook Snufje Zout & Snufje Geluk. Paul made us ciabatta buns with chicken, bell pepper and wasabi mayonnaise for lunch. We had ordered prosecco, limoncello and apple liqueur from Drankgigant and that got delivered in the afternoon. Paul made kolak pisang for dinner from the cookbook Indisch bakboek, which is a sweet soup. Yum!
Friday

Paul and Yuri made a short bike ride to Vroeg. They’re practicing for Yuri’s verkeersexamen (traffic exam). They got pesto cheese, dried sausage with nuts and cheese crackers from Vroeg. Paul made a small charcuterie board (borrelplank) with it. For dinner I prepared us vegetarian hotdogs. I added apple chutney with nuts and apricots, pickled cucumbers, fried onions and mayo or ketchup.
Saturday

Yuri had a party with a sleepover from a friend. After we dropped him off at the party, Paul and I went to Amsterdam by train. At Pacific Amsterdam at Westergas we sat down for gingerbeer, homemade iced tea and nachos. We visited the Fabrique des Lumières afterwards. It was beautiful. We loved standing and walking in the paintings of Klimt and Hundertwasser.

At our way back we had to go via Hilversum, since there was a signal failure at Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena. So our trip back took longer than planned. We got a chai latte and white mocha from Starbucks, fries from Smullers and a Döner bun and a falafel bun from The Döner Company which we ate at home.
Sunday

It was Mother’s Day. Yuri gave me Ferrero Rocher chocolates. In the afternoon the 3 of us had lunch at Se7en with a club sandwich uitsmijter, club sandwich chicken tandoori and pork belly. Then we went to Rabarber in the Zadelstraat in Utrecht. We had strawberry cheesecake and butter cake with blackberries and lemon. It was so delicious! Chai latte for Paul and me and a hot choc for Yuri. We also got some leftover pieces of butter cake and pecan pie. At last we sat in the sun on the terrace at Café Het Gegeven Paard with something to drink. We took home with us fries from Manneken Pis and burgers and a hotdog from Five Guys for dinner. Paul made us a limoncello spritz in the evening.
Mother’s Day was a day with sunny weather and the company of my two men.
