So week 40 2022 was a week with lots of home cooked pear recipes, meals, a day out in Haarlem and a weekend getaway visiting family in Germany.
Week 40 2022
Monday
On Monday I prepared a severed hand meatloaf. It was delicious, fun to make and it turned out well. In the evening I prepared cooking pears for the lunch next day.
Tuesday
I sliced the cooking pears, prepared a balsamic dressing and made my own crackers. All for our lunch of cooking pears carpaccio with balsamic dressing. It was delicious. We had hand picked the pears ourselves.
Yuri prepared dinner for us. He made pasta (elbow) with tomato sauce, mixed vegetables and a vegetarian satay schnitzel. He prepared it all by himself, without any help from me or Paul.
In the evening I prepared a pavlova and poached pears. The pears were hand-picked.
Wednesday
A pavlova with poached pears was our breakfast and it was simply delicious.
I went to Haarlem for a shopping day. We started with tea at a terrace. Had lunch with a bun with warm meat and satay sauce at De Wereld van Jansje. At the end of the afternoon we had cake and chai latte at Bij Babette.
Dinner at home was fries with snacks. In the evening I prepared a cheese board with 3 cheeses, syrup and a dip I had bought in Haarlem.
Thursday
We had dinner with a Wiener schnitzel, spicy barbecue sauce, small potatoes, sweet bell pepper and chestnut mushrooms.
Friday
In the morning I prepared a pear pie with caramel sauce. It was so delicious.
At around 4pm we left for Germany to visit family. Dinner was on the road with a broodje bal gehakt (bun with meatball), butter cake and arretjescake.
Saturday
We started the day with breakfast with the family. In the afternoon we took the subway to Hamburg. We visited the Museum der Illusionen (Museum of Illusions). It wasn’t a large museum, but we had a lot of fun. Afterwards we had lunch with schnitzels at restaurant Gasthaus an der Alster.
Sunday
We had breakfast together one last time. The kids played a bit together, before we left again. We had lots of traffic jams on the way home. Lunch was on the road with a schnitzel mit pommes for Yuri, loaded fries schnitzel for me and currywurst for Paul. Some miles further we stopped again and Paul had a bun with leberkäse. Dinner was also on the road at Hajé restaurant Nunspeet. Satay kebabs for Paul, kroketten with bread for Yuri and nasi goreng (fried rice) for me. All delicious.
So that was a week with lots of pear recipes and fun outings.
