So we’re halfway through September, but here’s week 3 2022. Last week I’ve published week 2 2022 and from there on we go further. The week was full of homecooked meals and a getaway to the beach.
Week 3 2022
Monday
I made two other recipes from my Indonesian cookbook Bijbel van de Indonesische Keuken from Maureen Tan: Mixed vegetables with a spicy peanut sauce and fried bananas. I served them with rice.
Tuesday
We had a pulled chicken bun from Huismeesters for lunch. Yuri prepared dinner for us. He made fishsticks from the cookbook Het Grote Kinderkookboek. He served the fishsticks with peas and mashed potatoes.
Wednesday
Dinner this evening was a fishstick club sandwich. A recipe we’ve prepared many times already and love a lot.
Thursday
More recipes from my Indonesian cookbook. Paul and I prepared Indonesian flatbread, corn cookies and rice with coconut milk. It was all very flavorful and delicious.
Friday
We had a weekend getaway at Fletcher Hotel Zeeduin in Wijk aan Zee. In the evening we had a 2-course dinner in our room. I had the braided mushrooms, Yuri the porcini soup and Paul a mackerel salad. All 3 of us had the farmer’s schnitzel as a main. The hotel is near the beach, so I made a couple of nice walks on the beach.
Saturday
A day filled with walks on the beach, reading and good food. We started our day with an elaborate breakfast buffet, which we took on our trays up to our room. For lunch I ordered us Split Pea Soup. Which is always so good on colder days. Later on in the afternoon we had hot chocolate and coffee with Baileys and whipped cream.
In the evening we again had a 2-course dinner on our room. Paul had the satay and a cheese platter. Yuri had a Fletcher burger and a dame blanche. I had a sticky bbq bun and the French toast. It was all delicious, except for my sticky bbq bun. Didn’t like the version they made here.
Sunday
On our last day in Wijk aan Zee we enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the morning, and made a last walk on the beach, before going home again.
Paul’s parents came over for dinner. We still had a lot of rice with coconutmilk and vegetables. I heated the rice and stir fried the vegetables and served them with a vegetarian spinach-cheese filet. Later on in the evening Yuri got sick, a cold.
So that was a fun week with homecooked meals and lots of walks on the beach.
